Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a wonderful antidote to stress and anxiety and is incorporated into my hypnotherapy programs as they work so harmoniously together. The Mindful walking program, Mindfulness meditation courses and workshops are a wonderful way to learn skills and feel connected in a safe, supported environment.
Although mindfulness originates from ancient eastern philosophy, it is becoming more influential and recognized in many health and wellbeing disciplines in the west including medicine and psychotherapy.
What is Mindfulness?
To Quote Jon Kabat-Zinn, considered to be the father of modern mindfulness,
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.”
In other words, mindfulness is about being fully aware of what is happening in the here and now, cultivating awareness of the mind and body without the lens of judgement.
When we are not mindful (mindless), we go through the motions of life without paying attention to our experience, ignoring the precious present moments in the hope that some “better” moments will come along in the future. We often miss the miracle of being alive, the wonder and joy of participating in life as it unfolds.
Mindful Walking Program
Partnering with Maroondah City Council, I facilitate a mindful walking program for a group of participants
Join us on a quiet walk through serene bushland and learn some of the important practices of mindfulness.
The mindful walking program will take you on a journey of connection and exploration. We will explore what it feels like to truly live in the moment while connecting to our senses, our minds and the world around us as we walk slowly in a lovely bushland environment. The practise of Mindfulness supports us to reduce anxiety, stress, overwhelm. Walking in nature also supports our immune system and physical health
Based at Yarrunga Community house in Croydon Hills, the program runs for 1 hour a week for 4 weeks.

How a Mindfulness meditation course/workshop or consultation can help you.
I utilize and teach mindfulness skills based on my training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).You will learn how to better manage and step back from difficult thoughts, handle emotions and feelings more effectively and engage fully in your life, here and now! You will also learn about what your values are and what really matters to you, so that you can act on those rather than being pushed around by limiting thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Self compassion and kindness to yourself and others is a crucial part of mindfulness and is included in the workshops.
Upcoming workshops and courses for 2025/26
I teach a variety of workshops and programs at my private home or in local community houses in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I also provide presentations to community groups and professionals about hope mindfulness can support them in their work and help to prevent stress and burnout.
